National Cryptologic Museum

One of the newest, and perhaps most overlooked, museums in the Washington, D.C. area is the National Cryptologic Museum. It's located next to the National Security Agency Headquarters, Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland. When Glenn's father worked for NSA in the late 1950's, NSA stood for "No Such Agency," so seeing an entire NSA museum is remarkable.

A highlight is a "hands-on" exhibit of a German "Enigma" code machine. You can actually operate it to encrypt and decrypt a message.

Glenn doesn't know what his father did at NSA, but since he was a mechanical engineer, perhaps he worked on machines like this one:

A solemn corner of the museum.

I have two clients at Ft. Meade and have been there twice. I'm due to go back shortly. I never knew about this museum. Thanks for letting me know.
